I wish I could have flicked some of the switches myself, but I suspect I would have wasted all the time we had if I did. We even ended up with a fault in starting the engines which we had to diagnose!

once sorted though, we were quickly underway, a quick hop from London Stanstead (EGSS), a touch and go at London Luton (EGGW) to land at London Heathrow (EGLL) if we had time. This was all programmed into the flight computer, and I was quite chuffed with how much I was able to grasp as we went considering it was my first time in a proper simulator.

First thing I found was that the aircraft spent a long time horizontal once I had attempted to rotate

Definitely fluffed my first landing attempt, flaring too much and ended up gliding half way down the runway, so we went for a go around, slamming the engines up to full throttle.

A bit of prompting to follow the flight director rather than watching the airfield, and we get a bit of a better result, though i almost pushed it into the ground like a dart, and needed to leave the correction to the centre line to the rudder rather than try to correct with the ailerons.

All in all, very good fun and has me enthused to try out this rout on my own flight sim, though with far fewer switches and dials.

Sim2Do

[6,38

post-461","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-engineering","category-flight
["GET
