Ends of Journeys

We decided to try to surprise people, as we had managed to get hold of tickets to the quarter final of the 2019 rugby world cup where the winner of group a would face the runner up in group b. It was therefore a surreal experience when we wanted to see Japan face South Africa, and all that stood between that and reality was my home nation of Scotland. You can imagine the confuse tension around the table while we watched that game. When all was said and done though, we got the match we hoped for, the new upstart Japan playing supremely entertaining rugby in a world cup rematch against South Africa whom they had beaten in the last world cup to much surprise. The atmosphere was great, spectaters from loads of different nations came to watch, which led to rounds of flower of Scotland and the fields of Athenry, along with the taiko drums and vuvuzela.

Unfortunately, this match was to mark the end of Japan’s world cup journey, and co-incidentally the end of our oddesy in japan. Today we make our way back to Osaka to fly our way home tomorrow morning.
